RECYCLING IN HEIDELBERG TOWNSHIP- The Township offers recycling for all different types of recyclable materials to include glass, steel and aluminum, paper, plastics and cardboard.  There is no reason to separate the materials, just drop them in the containers in the rear of the Township Building.  The containers are open 24 hours a day and 7 days per week.  No hazardous materials PLEASE!.  Please contact Lehigh County Solid Waste Management below for instructions on how to properly dispose of hazardous materials.  Please click HERE for a list of acceptable recycable materials at our drop-off site.

Cleaning Up Broken CFL Bulbs

Given the recent interest in the PSATS pooled energy purchasing program, we
wanted to bring to everyone's attention that the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) today provided new guidance on how to properly clean
up broken compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) bulbs.

Link here - http://www.epa.gov/cfl/cflcleanup-detailed.html

Included with the guidance is a new consumer brochure with CFL recycling and
cleanup tips that might be useful for the consumer.

What are Household Hazardous Wastes?  Good examples are:  oil-based paints, paint thinner, turpentine, stains, varnishes, Batteries, gasoline, gas/oil mix, Kerosene, mercury, thermometers, fluorescent tubes, roof tar, driveway sealer, pool/spa chemicals, photo chemicals, insecticides/pesticides, weed killers, fertilizers, glues/adhesives.  Lehigh County offers a Household Hazardous Waste disposal service twice a year (April/October) where residents can drop off their HHW for proper disposal.  Space is limited and appointments are necessary so watch this website or the County website for more information. =========================================================================================

YARD WASTE RECYCLING - Heidelberg Township does not offer a location for yard waste recycling, however, the former Lehigh County Solid Waste Management site at Old Packhouse Road in Orefield has been taken over by a contractor, Middle Smithfield Materials who will accept yard waste material for a fee.  Please call 610-799-4177 or go to the Lehigh County website and click on Solid Waste www.lehighcounty.org ========================================================================================

Rubbish Hauling In Heidelberg Township

Heidelberg Township does not have a dedicated rubbish hauler.  Each property owner may choose a rubbish hauler of their own choosing.  The local yellow pages have a large listing of rubbish haulers that do business in the Township.  We suggest the property owner “Shop around” to see which hauler offers the best deal to the consumer.
