We received this note to pass along from our friends at the Miller-Keystone Blood Center. Donating blood is safe and easy, and takes less than an hour and one blood donation can help as many as three or four different people! In what other activity, can so little time do so much?
The inclement weather has prevented the blood center from collecting enough blood to keep up with hospital demand. In addition, other regions of the country are experiencing similar events. This means that the blood center is totally dependent on members of the community for its blood supply.
The community blood supply has reached dangerously low levels. If the inventory does not improve quickly, we will not be able to meet the needs of patients in your local hospital. Accident victims, premature babies, and cancer patients are all depending upon you for your life saving donation.
Without your immediate support, there is a possibility that elective surgeries will be cancelled. Please help us to avoid having a friend, neighbor, or relative experience a delay in receiving necessary treatment.
We are counting on your blood and/or platelet donation this weekend. Please call 1-800-B-A-Donor or go online to schedule your appointment. You can find our donor center hours and locations as well as the locations of nearby blood drives at www.GIVEaPINT.org.
Your community needs you, please make the time to help save a life this weekend.
